There are quite a number of SEO techniques out there and you’ve probably implemented some or even all of them. You’ve tracked your performance and found out that even after a few weeks, your results still pale in comparison to your competitors.
So you ask yourself what the problem could be. I mean surely you’ve done the right things and you have implemented the strategies to the tee. What could possibly have gone wrong?
Well, there might be nothing wrong about your current SEO strategy. It is just that some of them might be outdated and they do not provide a lot of benefits anymore compared to when they were first introduced.
You will not really be getting the results that you’ve wanted. However, there might be something that is used by some website SEO services that can change your fate and that is the use of Rich Snippets.
What are Rich Snippets?
If you use a search engine and you want to find something like a recipe, for example, you will find many different websites on the SERPs. However, if you look closely, there are websites that provide only the title and the URL, while there are others that provide a lot more information.
The site that provides information that is not present in others is known as a Rich Snippet. This is actually a really great technique for you to implement since websites with rich snippets are almost always guaranteed to be the ones first clicked by the users.
That being said, how do you get started?
The first thing that you need to do is visit the site above. Schema.Org provides a lot of schemas that help businesses get discovered. This site was founded by several tech organizations and their intention is to help many different people; business owners or otherwise, to get the best possible results when someone searches for answers on a search engine.
The site provides users with a variety of words that suit many different niches and it also gives them suitable codes that they can use to implement their own snippets as well.
There are also other things that schema.org provides. It also gives you the ability to apply a rating mark-up that will allow you to have a star rating depending on the number of reviews your page gets.
Furthermore, it is pretty easy to implement since you can either use the vast repository found on the website or you can even use a WordPress plugin as well (provided that you use that particular content management system).
Manually Add HTML Tags
If you are Tech savvy and you have a little bit of knowledge on how to implement simple HTML tags, then that would be great.
You can add certain HTML such as:
- List Items: <li> </li>
- Unordered List Items: <ul> </ul>
- Ordered List Items: <ol> </ol>
Note: the tags with the “/” preceding it are the ones that end the tag.
After implementing all of these changes, check for yourself whether or not your website does provide rich snippets when someone uses a search engine to find relevant content. Always measure your progress and change things accordingly.
